Is Crypto Replacing Traditional Online Marketing?

Is Crypto Replacing Traditional Online Marketing? – What the Cryptocurrency Trend Could Mean For You As A Marketer.

If you have been watching videos on YouTube, done a google search or spent any amount of time on social media lately, you have been undoubtedly bombarded with news, articles, ads, posts, dm’s, search suggestions and videos on crypto currency and how you can make money from it.

Now, if you don’t already know, you might be wondering exactly what cryptocurrency is, what it’s all about and how it affects anything.

Well, to put it simply, Cryptocurrency is another form of making payments just like cash, bank transfers and cheques. Unlike the other traditional payment methods however, cryptocurrency is a purely digital currency and works through a massive computer network protected by strong cryptography. The technology it runs on is called a Blockchain.

Cryptocurrency is usually not issued by a central authority and so does not rely on any particular country, government or bank to maintain or uphold it. This makes it what you would call a decentralized currency.

What is Cryptocurrency?
Cryptocurrency is decentralised

It is probably the first democratic currency to exist in modern times and there are more than a thousand different cryptocurrencies in the world today. From what I can tell, that list grows everyday.

Some of the more popular cryptos that you have probably heard about include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Solana and Avalanche. There are also hundreds of marketplace exchanges where you can buy and sell crypto currencies and the more popular ones are platforms like Binance, Coinbase, FTX and Kraken.

Cryptocurrency has long been accepted as a form of payment in the gaming world, but with its adoption now as a method of payment (mostly Bitcoin) by a lot of the world’s biggest companies and online platforms like Microsoft, Mastercard, McDonalds, KFC, Stripe and Amazon (indirectly through Purse.io) to name a few, it is clear that cryptocurrencies are here to stay and are only going to grow in use and popularity.

To add to that, you have maybe noticed that loads of online marketers (including the biggest ones) have got in on the game and are now promoting all kinds of methods, trainings, software and bots to help you capitalise on and make money from this ever-growing crypto trend.

I just joined up to try a new Software that is very similar to many of the Crypto BOTS exept this ones trades automatically and trades in Currency and Gold, really worth having a look if you like complete passive income .

With everything that’s going on, no one could blame you for wondering to yourself if making money with crypto is starting to take the place of making money using traditional online marketing.

Well, let’s take a closer look and I’ll do my best to answer this question..

On the one hand, online marketing is any set of tools and strategies that you can use to promote products and services on the internet. Those products could be physical, information products, software programmes, digital assets, etc. Online marketing is also called internet marketing, web marketing, or digital marketing and includes methods like social media marketing (SMM), search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click advertising (PPC), blogging and video marketing (YouTube).

Cryptocurrencies on the other hand as I already explained, are a new form of currency that you can use to pay for things you want and also earn as a form of payment.

There are however also ways that you can make money from crypto currencies. Some of these methods are:

  • Investing in cryptocurrency
  • Trading in the crypto exchange market
  • Using the coin you already own to stake and lend coins to the system or to other users
  • Participating in the blockchain system by mining or receiving coin rewards for work done in the system
  • Getting rewarded in cryptocurrencies for creating and curating content on a blockchain-based social media platform.

From the explanations that I have given, you can see that both things make money in different ways and can even enhance each other.

For example, online marketing methods are usually used to promote different crypto currencies and get more people to use a particular currency.

Also, a more recent development which I am sure would be interesting to any online marketer is the incorporation of cryptocurrencies into digital marketing in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT’s).

In this system, users are paid with BAT’s whenever they watch an advert on a platform.

The way this works is that advertisers buy BAT’s which they use to pay for running their ads on a platform. Platform users are given the option of selecting the ads that they want to be shown and when they watch an advert, they are rewarded with some BAT’s from the advertiser.

The content creators and publishers also get paid a share of the advertiser’s BAT’s when a user views an advert while watching or reading their content. What makes all this so interesting for marketers is that the content creator gets a bigger pay out under the BAT system than they would under the current system with platforms like Facebook and Google.

To add to this, content creators can charge users BAT in exchange for giving them access to premium content and subscriptions, and so also make money from the platform’s users and not just its advertisers.

This is very good news for all marketers who create blog articles, YouTube videos, Social Media posts and other online content.

What it is crypto trading
Good news for marketers!

As you can see, the new potential created by cryptocurrencies is immense for online marketing.

My thoughts on Crypto vs Online Marketing..

In my opinion, as long as people keep on creating goods and services that they want to promote, there will be a need for online marketing and it will remain lucrative. In addition, because online or internet marketing has more channels and marketing opportunities than traditional offline marketing, it means that it will generally be the preferred option of the two.

To top it all off, the ways that crypto currency and digital marketing can now interact, only enhance the results that you can get from your digital marketing efforts if you play the game right.

And don’t forget that the new opportunities for making money in and of themselves that cryptocurrencies have introduced, make it yet another substantial source of income for online marketers and everyone else for that matter.

So, far from one replacing the other, I would say that they work hand-in-hand to benefit online marketers and could leave you with even more money in your pocket if you learn how to adapt  and take advantage of the changes.

To your success,

Marc and Team.
