The Power of Making Marketing Connections – Meeting Product Creator and Super Affiliate Ivana Bosnjak!

 

Working from home can be a lonely business. Sure, the more time you spend making connections the better but those people that you connect with online you can never really know if you would get on well with them if you were to ever meet them in person.

That is not to say that you shouldn’t always be open to accepting friend requests or taking the time to listen to someone’s proposal, whether it is about their new product launch, working together with them on a new project or simply teaming up with them for an affiliate contest.

Before I tell about meeting (my now very good friend) Ivana, Ill tell you a few things about why I chose to start working online. These are things about me that you wont find anywhere else.

Now unlike many Online Marketers I didn’t want to make money to travel as I have already done that, for over 20 years…

When I turned 18 I left Scotland to travel the World (I am now 43). So wanting to escape Scotland at the age of 18 with no money was not the easiest especially as I left school at 13 so had no qualifications.

The best option that I could find was to go to Africa and volunteer there for 12 Months, so after spending 6 Months training in Norway, Denmark and Sweden I went to a place in Zambia called Children’s town which was in the middle of the African bush (12 hours’ drive off road through the bush).

 

Anyway after that experience I knew there was no stopping. So without going into too many details over the next 20 years I lived and traveled in over 45 plus countries.

I went back to Africa and worked as an armed anti-poacher in Kafue National Park, protecting Elephants and other big game.

I worked and trained as a PMC in South Africa, spending time in almost every country from the DRC down wards.

I worked in Guatemala and then traveled all the way down to Panama by bus and hitch hiking, going through every country in Central America.

I have backpacked around India by myself twice, for well over 2 years in total.

I went to teach English in China during the SARS epidemic.

I trained future volunteers in the USA to prepare them for life in Africa and India.

I lived and worked in Poland and Czech, doing everything from Security to teaching English.

Anyway I hope you get the idea as I don’t want to list every country that I worked or travelled in.

So even though I tried to work in an office taking orders it really didn’t work out, so like many people typed in the magical words “How to make money Online” and here I am now.

I have now settled in Zadar, Croatia with my beautiful Wife and 3 year old Daughter and my 1 year old Daughter (and of course my 11 year most loyal companion, my American Stafford, Ekko).

So meeting Ivana! Ivana spent many years in the USA but is Croatian and moved back to Croatia some years ago.

The first time that I spoke to Ivana was when I saw a training course that she had created and I was very interested in reviewing as it looked like the real deal (which of course it was).

Ivana had never heard of me (why would she I guess) so I had to answer a lot of questions before she would give me review access.

When you are involved in the Internet Marketing World there are always people that you follow or always see on the affiliate leader boards and I had seen Ivana’s name a lot and liked her straight to the point style.

So fast forward a bit and we had talked online a few times and had chatted about many things to do with marketing and a bit about Croatia (I think when we first spoke Ivana had no idea that I actually lived in Croatia).

Then around Christmas time I got a message from Ivana to say that she would be passing through Zadar which is where I live and she wanted to see if I wanted to meet up for a coffee. She told me that she had her 2 kiddies with her and that she had been driving from one town back home to where she lived.

So rather than meeting in some busy uncomfortable café I suggested that she just come to my family home so that she could sit down and relax for a bit before continuing her drive.

So that is what she did, the place that I am in just now is quite small (though we are moving in a few weeks to a new bigger, nicer place).

I was actually quite excited about meeting someone who did what I did and to be able to talk about Internet Marketing.

I have to say that meeting Ivana was one of the most interesting experiences that I have had since starting in Online Marketing. Ivana is kind, likeable, very funny, down to Earth, extremely smart and an amazing marketer.

We chatted for over 2 hours with my little daughter running around with Ivana’s 2 Kids and my big Amstaff in the background all having fun.

We spoke for over 2 hours but both said that we could have spoken all night. At that time Ivana was getting ready to launch a new training course called Commission Drill (one of my best converting products of this year!)

We also spoke about life as an Internet Marketer and working from home and a lot of ideas and plans that we both have for this new year.

Just before I walked Ivana and her 2 very cool kid’s to the car, My Wife and Ivana made plans in Croatian (which I don’t speak or understand) that we drive up to stay with her for the weekend as soon as the weather heats up.

Anyway since then I have spoken to Ivana several times on the phone and we always seem to chat for hours as we always have so much to talk about!

So besides making a great new friend and having someone to call when I need advice or just want to chat about my work, meeting Ivana has showed me the power of making connections and actually taking the time to meet those people in person.

 

Ivana had recently returned from a Marketing Summit in Portugal and had met many people that have now turned out to be important connections for her. So on the next upcoming Marketing Summit we have agreed to travel together to it.

So to finish of this little story about Meeting Ivana Bosnjak. Two years ago I would never have guessed that I would include Ivana as one of my best friends here in Croatia, never mind actually meeting her!

Taking the time to connect is worth trying. Actually meeting the people you do business with online in person is very worthwhile AND I hope to meet a load more fellow Internet Marketers this year in Portugal. So if you are going to the Marketing Summit in Portugal then see you there!
